A First Look at 2016

by

Nothing prompts reflection quite like standing at the doorway of a brand new year. As we at #SRThq look back on 2015 and forward over the threshold to 2016, we’re flattened once again by a beautiful fact: Reading Truth with you is one of the great privileges of our every day, every year.

While many of you have been part of the She Reads Truth community for over three years now, even more of you are new to this worldwide family of women. So before we tell you what’s coming during the first quarter of 2016 (and we are so excited to tell you!!), we’d love to take a moment to explain why we’re here.

She Reads Truth exists to be “Women in the Word of God every day.” It is a simple but significant mission, one we try hard to stick to like glue because it is what God has called us to. And where He has called, He has so richly provided! We continue to be surprised by God’s faithfulness each step of the way as He meets the needs of this growing and vibrant community of women in the Word.

We seek to fulfill this mission in two ways: by providing reading plans and resources that invite women to engage God daily in His Word. The Scripture reading plans are offered free on the She Reads Truth site and via email, as well as on the She Reads Truth app for a nominal fee. We also offer optional Study Books to accompany most of our reading plans for an added level of engagement and accountability.

Here is what we need you to know: Because God’s Word is living and active, we believe the Holy Spirit is ultimately all you need to read and respond to Scripture. This is why we aim to create Study Books that provide a beautiful backdrop with ample space to read and encounter Scripture without the distraction of our words immediately alongside. Written responses to each day’s reading are always found exclusively on SheReadsTruth.com and the She Reads Truth app, and we warmly invite you to join us for that further commentary and conversation.

Thank you for your presence in this community, both in the past and in the coming weeks and months. You bless us daily with the way you pursue God in His Word, the way you respond to one another with love and grace, and the way you long to know the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus. We are crazy about you!

Now, on to our plans for early 2016…

We’ve been at work on the 2016 editorial calendar for months now, and we’re thrilled to give you a glimpse into what’s ahead for the She Reads Truth community. As you set your own personal Bible-reading goals for the New Year or make plans with your church or small group, here are important upcoming dates to keep in mind:

GENESIS: January 1-30
(4 weeks)
A study of the book of beginnings, and a look into the first glimpses of God’s covenant faithfulness to His people.

HYMNS V: February 1-5
(1 week)
Another installment in a favorite SRT series, this week-long reading plan (free on the app!) explores the lyrics of five beloved hymns of the Church and the scripture behind them.

LENT: February 10-March 27
(6+ weeks)
A 47-day reading plan presented in 5 parts, the 2016 Lent reading plan walks through the topics of biblical repentance, fasting, and prayer, the book of the prophet Jonah, Jesus’ “I Am” statements from the book of John, and a real-time look at Holy Week, culminating in Christ’s finished work on the cross and His resurrection from the grave.

THE RESURRECTED LIFE: March 28-April 10
(2 weeks)
Picking up where the Lent readings end, The Resurrected Life includes a week of encounters with the risen Jesus, followed by a week in 1 Corinthians 15, as we explore how Christ’s resurrection extends eternal hope in our own lives.

Genesis study books are available now in the SRT Shop, and Lent books are available for preorder (with a free gift with purchase through 1/8!).

Book or no book, we truly hope you’ll grab a Bible (or Bible app!) and join us in 2016 as we seek the face of the God who made us, who loves us, and who is our lasting and imperishable hope.

Thanks be to Him!
