Advent 2015: Born Is The King: Day 15

The Third Sunday of Advent

Today's Text: Isaiah 9:6-7

Text: Isaiah 9:6-7

One way we make room for the coming King is by storing His Word in our hearts. This third week of Advent, let’s memorize the first part of Isaiah 9:7 so we will have the full passage of Isaiah 9:6-7 memorized in its entirety by Christmas.

Save the lock screen below to your phone as a reminder throughout the week, worshiping the King whose reign and peace are without end.

Of the greatness of his government and peace
 there will be no end.
- Isaiah 9:7a NIV 4-Advent3

  • What a great reminder! So often I stumble back into fear, anxiety or something else……the promise of Jesus’ unending peace is truly amazing and is a soothing balm for my heart, mind and soul.

This part has never really struck me before, but in this crazier-than-ever political season when I’m longing for peace—this verse is incredibly comforting (in the most literal way possible!). Even when human institutions fail—we can still place our hope in Him.

  • I was extremely struck by these words today. So many times, we focus on the first part, but here in 4 simple words is such a great promise and hope. The prophet tells us that the child will be great, but there will be no end!! What a message to start this day and remember in the business of the holiday schedules. Jesus is the answer, the means, and there will be no end!!!

Peace seems so elusive this side of heaven. With the continual conflicts across our globe to the inner turmoil and stress within families and individuals, peace seems a lofty goal but unattainable. Praise God! HE says not true! HE will establish His government and it will be GREAT. And HIS peace WILL HAVE NO END. Oh what a day that will be! Yes! We will shout WHAT A MIGHTY GOD IS HE! (do the happy dance with me, sisters!)

There will be no end! Such power in four words. Thank you Lord!

  • There will be no end. There will be NO end. And how great is knowing that?! No end to the peace, no end to his greatness. No end to his kingdom. No end to his boundless love. YES! Happy Sunday!

  • Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. Hallelujah. No more to be said. :)
