Daniel: Day 13

Grace Day

Today's Text: Isaiah 43:2-3a

We can all use a grace day, can’t we? Take this day as an opportunity to catch up, pray, and just rest in the presence of the Lord. Pray the scripture below for a specific woman in your life and for yourself.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;

when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
-Isaiah 43:2-3a ESV

  • Christine

I am so blessed to hear these verses. I used to regularly contemplate on Isaiah 43 but have since forgotten about it. Thank you for encouraging me in this! God was with Daniel every step of the way and He is with me and my failures, successes, stress, peace, relationships, and studenthood every step of the way!

  • this is so promising because God doesn’t say “if” you pass through the waters he says “when” and he doesn’t say “maybe” I will be with you. His word is truth & his promises are comforting. I love this study & everyone’s comments helps me connect more and more with the study and helps me realize in the midst of my struggles I’m not alone. I hope everyone who reads this finds hope in Christ. cause whatever your going through … God has a plan and don’t trust in your own understanding trust in the Lord. :-)

Dealing with severe flooding here in SC…what a perfect day to read this…the flood will not overwhelm us! Thank you Jesus for your timing word!

  • hannahroserob

I'm super behind on this devotional, but I know now that it is for good reason. One of my close friends is dealing with a rocky breakup and she has been feeling discouraged lately. So when I read the verses for tonight, I knew that they were meant for her. God is so so good. :)

    • Claudia Pannetti

I am way behind as well. But I agree with you! God works all things for good!! Glad you were able to help your friend! :) you are not alone..I’m trailing along here too. :)

  • Kasey Summers

Jesus is our Firm Foundation! Our Cornerstone! We cannot be shaken!

  • I prayed this for my mother-in-law because her husband has been diagnosed with leukemia. I’m not sure what faith they have so I pray that they will know his love as they go through uncertain and difficult times.

    • ~ B ~

Rachel, prayerful that the Spirit breaks out between them. That whatever level their faith, that it be profoundly increased for Christ, that they will see His work in this and that they will draw closer to Him and each other. Prayerful for healing over him as well. ~ B

  • Couldn’t have needed this reminder more this week. After having some serious disagreements with my boss and fearing having to leave my job (or be fired) after standing my ground on an integrity issue… It is easy to fear and assume the worst, to feel like you are alone in the fight. “When you walk through fire the flame will not consume you.” The Lord, my Savior, has and will never leave my side. I will not be consumed.

  • Grace days are always so encouraging for me, I am dealing with regret so much as of recent and to remember God's grace for me and with this verse how he will protect me from so much, how he loves us, he is so much bigger than we can imagine and he can do the most amazing great things.

  • …through the waters…through the rivers…through the fire…. Reading this, I can’t help but know that I have thrown myself into the waters, cast myself into the rivers, and walked willingly into the fires – my choices, my expectations, my lack of focus on Him. All of these have willingly put myself in harms way when it comes to my soul.
And today, all I can do is praise Him! Thank Him for not giving up on me. Thank Him for being with me – even when all I can see are my looming circumstances, my selfish kingdom or hear the noise of worldly approval – He is and always has been by my side. Always!
Exceedingly grateful He comes with me and will not allow me to be overwhelmed nor consumed even when these are results of my own unwise making. Consequences may be inevitable, but His gracious discipline and love are good. Always good.

We usually don't have any learning source were we can write essays of our interest. Like many other people i also like good services of essays. You must try this one too.

  • I love this one today I love how they do the grace day ones, because it gives me time to catch up reading my bible and just resting. I love the SRT Daniel because I’m pretty new to SRT so I haven’t been reading everyday and so Daniel is the only one I have done everyday and I can’t wait to keep doing it!

  • churchmouse

I add my prayers for you and your family as well. Praying too that you feel the love of your sisters here as we grieve with you. Every life bears His image. Galilee beholds Him face to face.

  • Sometimes I have trouble discerning which promises and verses in the Bible apply to me circumstantially. I know that context, authorship, and the audience being written to are huge factors in this. I don't know all that much about the book, but for the most part, can Isaiah be applied to the church today?

    • Pam B

I believe that all Scripture can be applied to us today, Old and New Testaments. In the introduction section of my Bible for the book of Isaiah it says: “Isaiah is a book that unveils the full dimmensions of God’s judgment and salvation.” I would say that concept still applies to people today. In chapter 1, Isaiah is talking about how Israel is a rebellious nation. America is definitely a rebellious nation that needs to turn back to God.
It can be harder to find the application in the Old Testament books sometimes, but we are still so much like the Israelites today that what God was telling them thousands of years ago still applies to us because we make the same mistakes.

    • Abby

I also use 2 Corinthians 1:20, when imterpreting scripture: “all God’s promises find their ‘yes’ in Christ”. What a glorious promise!!! We are united to Christ, and everything promised and fulfilled in Christ is given freely to us as well (keep reading through verse 22).
You asked a good question, and I encourage you to dig deeper! I can’t remember the name of it, but there is a book about finding Christ in the Old Testament, and one that is specifically on Genesis. Maybe it’s called the Promised One? Not sure but I hope you are encouraged to see Christ in all of scripture and know that bc you are united to him by faith, all God’s promises find their yes in him! Blessings to you!

  • My husband and I found out on Tuesday that our pregnancy had miscarried. We’re blessed that we have three other children, but it doesn’t make the pain easier.

This week has been so hard & if not for the daily devotions I don’t know that I could bring myself to pray or read. This community is such a lifeline when I’m at my weakest and it hurts to even pray. Today is hard. I think I’ve hit the irrational anger part of the grieving process. I’m so sad and when I can’t be sad anymore I’m angry. I’m angry that there is no one to be angry with and angry with myself for being angry at all. I’m not even sure why I am sharing all this here. If whomever reads this could say a prayer for me?

We decided to give our child a name – even though we miscarried too early to know a gender. We hadn’t even announced yet so no one besides close friends even knows.

We had been praying for a daughter so we named her Galilee. If you all could say a little prayer for her. It hurts to think that her life won’t really matter to anyone, but her father and I. That no one will remember her.

    • Tonya

What a beautiful name! I'm so sorry for your loss.

    • Meghan

Kari, I am sorry for your loss and for the pain you are experiencing now. I will certainly pray for you!

    • Mimi

Kari, I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I was there 12 years ago August 5th! I understand your hurt/loss/anger! We had not told, but a couple of people, but when I realized what was happening I knew I needed the strength of my family and church family to get me through along with God's comfort/strength! I will be praying for You and your husband as you grieve this precious life-share it with someone because so many of us have gone through it and can be the support God has given to you to help get you through your emotions! Our little Samuel will be waiting for us as is your Galilee when we go Home! God Bless You!

    • janellecole

I am so sorry to hear of your loss – as you feel the waves of anger, do not allow the enemy to sprinkle in some guilt. God can handle your anger, and honestly I can think of few things more worthy of being angry about. God understands your pain and sorrow and can carry your anger too – but leave the guilt. Praying for your heart to heal, as it will take more than a week or a few weeks. Praying you feel God's peace surround you as you continue to grieve. God is always good, even when our situation is so very bad.
Be blessed and know He loves you tremendously!!

    • Jacqi

Kari, I went thru a very similar situation and my husband and I had a friend tell us to do what you did, name the child, so we could lay her to rest and have closure. So like you we had been praying for a girl and we both felt like her name was supposed to be Faith. It has taken a while to overcome this pain and sadness but what has helped me thru is talking about it. Not necessarily to everyone, but not act like it didn’t happen. So for me I have had 7 pregnancies and 5 boys- 2 miscarriages. My boys know they have sisters in heaven. I have told them. But truthfully my encouragement for you is when you are ready- and only God and you will know this-He will use you to minister to others thru this because you can relate. This became a huge blessing to me- my sister had a miscarriage, 2 right after each other- but I shared with her about the names and such . Her husband went out and bought her a rose bush and they planed it in honor of them! Thanking the Lord for every moment! I will be praying for you today! This Grace Day is for you! And your husband! Go hold him today! Don’t forget him!

    • Melanie

Her life matters to humanity. It truly does. The Lord called her up early but it’s ok. She’s ok and is in His arms being held while watching us on heaven grieve her. My prayers for you and your family that you emotionally recover in His time and no one else’s.

    • Carrie

May God heal you with His all-understanding, all-encompassing love, Kari. He gives comfort and strength. Psalm 139:13 expresses God's knowing us from our beginning. Colossians 2:2 includes my prayer for you, too. Bless you and your family precious one.

    • Elizabeth

Kari, I cannot imagine the pain you are experiencing from this loss… I am so, so sorry. Praying for you and your husband.

    • sweetdes2014

Praying for you and all of the emotions (which are okay to feel) that you are experiencing. Galilee has touched more people than you think, she's touched me. Because of the love her mother has for her even before she had an opportunity to see or hold her. That's love, that's how God loves us. I thank you for sharing the love you have for Galilee with us. It speaks volumes!

    • Maddie

My mother had a misscarrige a few years ago, and I saw the pain she went through, I can only image what it’s like. You are in my prayers Kari, and so is Galilee

    • KLeighWilson

What a perfect verse to sit with today. I do not pretend to know what you're feeling, but I ache for your loss. There is no shortage of women going through this same fire. You are not alone, and God is with you and your little one. You're in my prayers today.

    • Tammy

      Praying for you Kari.

    • MNmomma (heather)

Prayers lifted for you dear one this morning……

    • JessicaLoves___

      You are in my prayers.

    • Liz

Kari, my prayers are with you and your family. Know that like this verse states, you are not alone, God is with you. May you be able to, in time, share your story and short time with Galilee with others, so that your wounds may become a well of hope for those going through a similar tragedy. May you, your husband, and your children find rest and peace in the Lord today!

    • Joanna

What a beautiful name. Her life matters to us! Lifting you up in prayer.

    • Erin

Such a beautiful name! So sorry for your loss, Kari. Praying for your family.

    • Sarah_Olsen

O Father, O Lord, our God and Savior… I pray to You today that as the Creator of all things, You sought to see it fit to create Galillee, what a precious little one Lord that You have brought into Your kingdom. O Father, I pray that You strengthen Kari and her husband, offer comfort to her and her other three precious children. God, You give us these children, but they belong to You, for we are all children of God. We seek Your help and aid in raising them up, bringing them up, and setting a godly example for them to follow. Father, I pray that You let Your presence in this fire be known to Kari, that she may feel joy in a time of tragedy and that she may see Your glorious face present every time her eyes close. Lord thank you for Gallilee and I can't wait to see her place in Your kingdom. In Jesus name, Amen!

    • Tamisha

I prayed that God will heal you and your husband in jesus name.

    • Lizzieb85

Oh, Kari, my heart aches for you. I had a miscarriage over 3 years ago & it was 1 of 2 of the most difficult times in my life. So so hard. Anger at God, doubt of His love for me, rebellion & turning away from Him. He brought women into my life who had been through similar circumstances & slowly changed my heart to trust Him again. I only say this because talking to others & that support was so important to my healing. I now have twin boys, but for the 2 years between my pregnancies, the miscarriage brought up so much muck to work through. I pray for your healing. I pray that peace will surpass your limited understanding. & I pray that while you wrestle with God, He will bring you to a place of renewed faith & that He will be glorified in your circumstance. Your baby mattered & matters. She is not forgotten. My baby is such an important part of my boys’ story that they will know s/he existed. Galilee will always be a part of your family. God loves you, sweet sister. And He loves your daughter.

    • Andrea

Galilee.. what a beautiful name. as you may tell, she is precious to us and so are you. praying for your little one, you, and your husband.

Praying for you and Galilee, Kari. I’m so sorry for your loss. I can’t begin to understand your pain, but He does. Thank you for staying committed to this study. Sending you lots of love & hugs from WV.

    • ~ B ~

Kari … I am prayerful over you and your sweet Galilee. That this fire won't consume you, but rather, like a potter's oven, refine and sharpen your scars so that you may be a vessel that carries beautiful things, like the fragile memories of a season so brief, so special, so sweet that it's become like a hidden & royal treasure that only you, your husband, your close friends and your living God share. As if it's a part in a profound novel that only you understand. Like the steps Jesus took, each one mattered, Galilee is among them. I am prayerful that the weight of this is lifted by God and replaced with a peace that can only come from Him, that you feel His loving embrace around you and that your marriage is united in a tighter bond of oneness because of walking through these flames together. Will continue to be prayerful over you and your's Kari. ~ B

    • jessiechatchat

Praying for your heart, Kari. For your husband’s heart. For your kids. For healing and for this doo doo to be turned into fertilizer. I know everyone’s experiences are different but we suffered through two miscarriages in between our first and second children. It gets better. Being honest and vulnerable helps. I know you know that. But praying still. xo

    • Ana

Our heavenly Father knows her & remembers her & He created her for a purpose. What a beautiful name, she lives on.

    • Paris

I know this was years ago, but I prayed for you ladies who all walked through this valley.. My pastors wife told me that she found joy in knowing that all the women in heaven who couldn’t have babies on earth, are holding all the miscarried and even aborted babies in heaven.. I pray God will hold you, as He is holding those precious lives. He knows them, and they do matter. May God bless you today.

  • Candacejo

"What time I am afraid I will trust in thee." Psalm 56:3. His Word doesn't say we will never be afraid, that we will never suffer, that we will never face persecution. It is a given for the child of God! But what He DOES say is that He will be with us, never leave us, never forsake us. That is huge to me. We can even be afraid of what is coming but we don't have to hang on to that fear. We give it to Jesus, we trust in Him, we make that declaration, praying the scripture, speaking it boldly out loud and He comes and gives us strength and comfort in the Holy Ghost.

We WILL have times of doubt, fear and anxiety but we don't have to LIVE there. Go to Jesus, give HIM that fear or whatever you are facing, even if it is death itself. He WILL be there, He might not remove it, but He will take you through it. ♥

    • MNmomma (heather)

yes! yes! yes! You hit the nail on the head this morning!!! Thank you!!!!

    • Melinda

Yes, love this. We are not to stay in or live in that fear and or anxiety. He desires for us to live in His joy through all circumstances brought our way. I have really been challenged in this as my family has just made a very big move with lots of unknowns along the way. I felt challenged to try out walking in to these unknowns in faith in place of worry. Thanks for your words Candace Jo!

    • Janet

Psalm 56:3 is a very special verse for my family. We believe that this scripture was the last our Mother was reading before we took her to the hospital. She would never return to her earthly home, but made her journey to her heavenly home. She passed away from Cancer. Her Bible being open to this verse has left us with an everlasting thought about any situation we may face. God is always with us, and we can trust him at all times. We believe it gave her comfort during her last days, and it comforts us today.
