Daniel: Day 7

Weekly Truth

by

Today's Text: Daniel 3:17-18

We believe memorizing scripture is one of the best ways to carry the Word of our God with us wherever we go—to have God-breathed truth, instruction and reproof in our hearts and minds as we live unto Him each day.

This week we’ve chosen a call to faith-filled courage.

“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
- Daniel 3:17-18 NIV

Write this verse down—copy it twenty times if that helps! Post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about scripture memorization. Will you join us? 4-daniel-3-1718

The truth bomb is real. So applicable

  • Such a strong truth. God is faithful to us. He is calling us to be faithful to him.

  • Love this and what a great time to have this in our hearts and minds during these ugly times our world is going through.

  • Claudia Pannetti

No matter what this world comes to, we MUST purpose in our hearts as Daniel did that we will not bow to the world or serve their gods or disobey God for their laws. And GOD will deliver us as He did Daniel.

Love this verse and study! God is our Deliverer!!

I think this is an amazing verse to apply to die. Very literally I might add.
"If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will nto serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up." KJV
I look at this verse like this:
O king, is satan, the world anything trying to steer us from God.
And the fiery furnace is hell.
I will follow my God, because He will deliver me from hell, but even if He does not in the end, I will still choose to follow Him because He is just and faithful and loving.

  • I have a question: I have friends at school who aren’t Christians, but they are still my friends, I’ve known them forever and I can be myself and open around them. And then I have these amazing friends at youth group, but I feel like I don’t have that same connection with them as my school friends. I really want to be good friends with them as I am with my other friends, but I’m not the same around them, I’m shy and don’t know what to talk about ever! I just don’t know what to do, I want so bad to be close friends with them, but I don’t know how…:(

Hi Kenzie! I happened across your comment just after you posted it, so I feel like I'm supposed to reply :) When I was in high school I always felt like the outsider at youth group. I went to a different school than most of the kids and they weren't really friendly to new people. So I know how that feels. :) It may be that you just haven't found the person you really "click" with yet. It sounds like you enjoy youth group, so maybe by continuing to attend their activities you'll become more confident in knowing what to say, or you'll meet someone that you can really be your true self with. Keep growing closer to Jesus, get involved in things, and pray for good, Godly friends! I'm saying a prayer for you now.

      • Kenzie

Thank you so much for replying, it means a lot! Thanks for the advice I will take it to heart, and I continue to be amazed about how friendly this community is, and how Gods love abounds no matter who you are, even if you don’t know each other. And thank you so much for the prayer, I really appreciate it :)

Sometimes it just takes some repetition to be comfortable. Maybe one day, you’ll just find you do feel close to them.
I think it’s also important for me to tell you that your group of friends who aren’t Christians need you more than your youth group. (This is not to say you don’t need fellowship, you definitely need your youth group). Maybe God has left you in a comfort zone with your friends from school so you can be like light in darkness. You can show them the glory and grace of God. You can minister and witness to them. God is in more control than we realize and I believe he has a purpose for you in your group at school. Use your time at youth group to learn as much as you can about Christ and to grow closer to Him. Then use what you learn from youth group at school with those friends. Never deny Christ for the sake of others no matter how comforting their friendship is, but always use your situation to express the love Jesus shows and teaches in the new testament. I will pray for you.
I pray that our Father uses you, Kenzie, to lift up her friends at school. I pray that He is with you always, shining your light bright in the darkness so others may see. I pray that God will guide you in all things you do and that His Spirit will comfort you at youth group and encourage you when needed. In Jesus name, we pray for your fellowship. Amen.

Hey, Kenzie. I didn’t really hit my “bosom buddy Jesus friend” groove until college. Felt the same way as you in youth group. The advice from the other ladies is spot on and God will grow you and your relationships in amazing ways over the coming years.

    • Jennifer Manuel

      Kenzie,
My husband and I have been in youth ministry for over 15 years. I’ve seen your situation many times. One thing that really helps is to go on trips with your youth group. The next time they have a trip (summer camp, sleepover, weekend conference) you need to go. So much bonding happens away from the church. Also, talk to your youth minister or another adult volunteer. If I know a kid is struggling to fit in, I looked for ways to make them more a part of the group. I’ll be praying for you that you find the support and connections in your youth group.

  • Please be in prayer for my husband and I as we are about to begin quite a journey. My husband, already working a full time job at a car dealership and our youth and worship pastor, will begin online classes at Liberty University to work towards his undergraduate degree. We are both nervous and excited about this process and need all the prayer support we can get.

    • JessHH

Wow, it sounds like your busy lives are about to get even busier! I'm praying for you now, that God would multiply your time to do the things that need done and keep your relationship strong despite the stress of many commitments.

  • This moved me almost to tears. So powerful and bold, how I pray the Lord will give me the ability to be able to stand firm like Danial and his friends whenever the time comes.

  • “…He can rescue us from the power of you, the king. But even if He does not rescue us, we want you as king to know that we will not serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.”

We always wonder why it is that Christians aren’t always rescued and experience great suffering. My study bible had such an eye opening note about Daniel 3:16-18

“If God always rescued those who were true to him, Christians would not need faith. Their religion would be a great insurance policy and there would be lines of selfish people ready to sign up. “

  • Love this so much!

It was mentioned earlier this week about the respect Daniel had when speaking of the food they would not eat. And again, here he shows respect..'and if He does not, we want you to know your Majesty…..' He held firm to his convictions but not in a haughty, arrogant way. And to remember he was but a youth!

  • Wonderful truth to reflect upon today! To have faith to stand firm on when things don’t go the way we planned and to know that He is with us through the struggles- what love He has for His precious children! May we trust in His sovereign deliverance today!

  • Love this verse. So real. Such faith and trust. Lord, give me this same faith and trust in You!

  • “but even if He does not…”

That’s where it gets REAL isn’t it? To say that we will love and serve our Lord even when things don’t go our way. Even when we suffer, struggle, and grieve – we will lift heavy hands. Oh Lord, help us to have such a faith.

  • Oh, to be as brave, to have such conviction as to stand firm and not waiver..WoW…Oh Lord God,make me such an instrument of your Love, an instrument of truth…your TRUTH…,Lord give me the courage to trust what I know in my heart and be able to utter these beautiful words of Daniel and his pals…
"If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Help me to be bold, and constant in my knowledge of you..Thank you for Daniels example…Lord, may I strive each day, to be such a person..in the mighty name of Jesus…Amen..

    Happy Sunday…xxx Be Blessed..xx

    • MNmomma (heather)

Amen! Amen! Amen! Once again sweet Tina, your words are the prayer of my heart :) Joining you in prayer this morning!

    • Lynda

I’m praying this with all of you this morning. And even if he does not! Oh please Lord give me this faith and conviction.

  • Love this verse! I'm excited to memorize it with all of you!
