This is the Gospel: Day 14

Weekly Truth

Today's Text: John 3:17

We believe memorizing scripture is one of the best ways to carry the Word of our God with us wherever we go—to have God-breathed truth, instruction and reproof in our hearts and minds as we live unto Him each day.

This week we’ve chosen a reminder of the gift of grace we have been given.

For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.
- John 3:17, HCSB

Write this verse down—copy it twenty times if that helps! Post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about scripture memorization. Will you join us?

  • Sometimes I think to myself about how I desire to be so much like someone else who is a Christian, and I start comparing myself to them. I would often think small things like, “If only I looked or felt the way she did,” or “if only I led a small group like her,” that all my simple pains would be wiped away, but then I realized how comparison and judgement is the thief of joy. I find joy in God and what He wants for me. He does not judge us or want us to be more like someone else; He wants us to be our true version of ourselves.

  • What a beautiful, simple truth that I wish more people understood.

  • Only Jesus can save me! I’m so thankful that I can even say those words!

The good news of the Gospel is that it is for everyone. I don’t have to be finished to be a child of God. We try to cheapen God’s gift of grace when we try to add anything to the good news of the Gospel. The Gospel + nothing=everything!

  • God saw that the world was suffering and that the world needed Him. He did not send His only Son into the world because he wanted to punish us. God sent His only Son to Earth to give us another chance and to prove ourselves to Him as His followers and children.

  • I love this!! 3:17 is my birthday :)

I was a few days late in finishing this study and I’m so glad I made it to the end! It was great! Thank you

  • Thanks Lord leads me here, love you forever.

  • Thank-you for the wonderful image and easy to save scripture verse SRT! On my laptop the background is pictures on rotate from my pictures library. I just got the idea to save the image with the scripture to my library of pictures, than these ever so important verses will show up on my desktop. Thank you Lord for the bright idea.

One suggestion, if there is space on the scripture images to include the verse location i.e. John 3:17 that would be so great. Just a thought. I deeply appreciate all of your hard work ladies.

  • This was such a wonderful Study SRT! I am so happy that I was able to do it with all of you wonderful, kind, and Chris centered women. What a blessing! :)

  • One reason I love the Weekly Truth is because I use this time to meditate on one verse and look it up in various translations. As I was doing so this morning, I discovered this translation from the VOICE.

Here's the point. God didn't send His Son into the world to judge it; instead, He is here to rescue a world headed toward certain destruction.

As I read that, I realized this is the world we live in today. Thank you, Lord, for sending your Son to save us and thank you for the grace and mercy you show us each day!

  • Amen! Thank you SRT for a wonderful study AGAIN.

  • I love this verse. We always quote John 3:16 but this is the “why” of that verse. Praise Jesus for His great love for all of us.

  • Not to condemn us, but to save us. Grace and mercy. Thank You, Lord!

  • Sarah York

  • Kasey Summers

Saved! Redeemed! Rescued! Chosen! Loved!! So thankful to be a child of God!!

  • Many of us were taught to imagine God the Father as judgmental and wrathful, and Jesus as approachable and loving. I love how this verse shows that the Father's purpose has always been rescue and reconciliation.
