Women In The Word - OT: Day 28

Weekly Truth

Today's Text: 1 Samuel 2:2

We believe memorizing scripture is one of the best ways to carry the Word of our God with us wherever we go—to have God-breathed truth, instruction and reproof in our hearts and minds as we live unto Him each day.

The verse we’ve chosen today is a reminder of the power of our Lord, the one true God…

There is no one holy like the Lord.
There is no one besides You!
And there is no rock like our God.
– 1 Samuel 2:2, HCSB

Write this verse down—copy it twenty times if that helps! Post it on your mirror or at your desk, in your car or on the fridge—anywhere you’ll see it often. Save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words of truth throughout the day.

We want to be a community that is intentional about scripture memorization. Will you join us?

The Lord is so awesome and he is there for me, always. I made not get everything, but I get that.

There are Rocky Mountains all around me. They are made of shale. You can literally crumble the rock in your hand. They are desert rocks that rise high into the clouds like the Grand Canyon. I think of the beauty and boldness mountains speak. Mountains are the source for much of the water here…when it rains, the water trickles down the mountain and gives life to the people. Shade is given and bad weather is minimized. Our God protects and shields and gives life to us and stands as champion over all our battles. He is the Lord.

Thank you for sharing! I am an Army wife and mother, and our family moves every year or two. Your words brought back such wonderful memories that my husband and I share of our time living next to the mountains. I loved standing, in awe, of something so massive and pristine. I realize something physical cannot even compare to the power of our God, but it is definitely a reminder of how great He is!

  • The rock that is higher than I! When I look to the hills, where does my help come from? It comes from the Lord! The maker of heaven and earth!

The verse we’ve chosen today is a reminder of the power of our Lord, the one true God…

  • This is so true! In today’s world it’s so hard to stay centered and fully embrace and rely gods ability to support us fully everyday in our lives but this reminds us he can and only he can! He’s truly one of a kind!

  • God IS my rock and stability. His grace and mercy keeps me grounded.

  • very well said

  • Ladies, a few weeks ago I got into some trouble, in which I cashed a check that came into my mail for a mystery shopping job. Turns out the check was fraudulent and the place where I cashed it was going to press charges against me; the owner of the store decided to work out payment arrangements to allow me to pay him back $275 over 8 weeks or he would immediately press charges and I would go to jail instantly, this was half my check every week. During this time I was thinking how I was going to pay my bills, feed my kids, I was worried but I had faith that God will work things out and make it all work, I knew He would not let me down. I know have 3 more payments to make and I haven't missed one, none of my bills are past due and God has provided me outlets to make ends meet. I am so thankful. My rent is due next week but I am not stressing on how its going to get paid because I know God will make a way.

I feel that this is God's way of teaching me a lesson and teaching me also on how to trust in him, how to keep my faith, that he will never leave me nor forsake me.

This verse applies to my life in so many different testimonies, every time I get knocked down, He allows me to get to the edge and he catches me right before I hit the ground.

I love the Lord and I am so thankful for Him. There is no rock like our God. There is no one besides You!

  • Thank you for this, I love it :)

  • The Hebrew word translated as "rock" here is really interesting. It can also mean a rocky ledge, or the edge of a cliff. We think of God as providing safety and stability in our lives, and He does. But many times God invites people to go past their edge, past what feels safe or comfortable. He definitely called Hannah past her edge, and I believe that's what lead her to this moment of worship in our memory verse.
When has He called you to go past your edge? How did He reveal Himself to you past the end of yourself?

I’m stretching myself, working on a neonatal nurse practitioner masters … attaining the next level is daunting as I dig into God’s beautiful handiwork to learn the function of the human body down to the level of protons. I have asked him for real understanding of the function of His creation as I felt so panicked trying to just memorize. He has stilled me and provided exactly that. I revel in the intricacy and masterful design of His handiwork, continually amazed at the sheer brilliance of our makeup … yes, to the ionic level. Thanking and praising Him for answering me in my need. Thank you for further opening this verse for me! Jeanie

This verse is a powerful comfort to me here in the USA following the decision of the Supreme Court. Yes, one holy Lord. One Rock. One God. Amen.

May we all pray much for our country and claim the promise that God is still in charge. And give us all wisdom and "want to" to speak up boldly for our God. Blessing for all our SRT friends.

  • There is no one holy like the Lord.
There is no one besides You!
And there is no rock like our God.

    There in no one…

    Full stop…

    No one…
    One Holy Lord…one rock…one God…

    Happy Sunday…xxx
