Hosea 2014: Day 6

Weekly truth

Today's Text: Hosea 6:3

We believe that memorizing scripture is one of the best ways to carry the Word of our God with us wherever we go—to have God-breathed truth, instruction and reproof in our hearts and minds as we live unto Him each day.

This week we’ve chosen this powerful verse from our first week of studying Hosea:

Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord;
His going out is sure as the dawn;
He will come to us as the showers,
as the spring rains that water the earth.
— Hosea 6:3

Write this verse down – copy it twenty times if that helps! Save one of the images below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read these words throughout the day. We want to be a community that is intentional about scripture memorization. Will you join us?

    Hiya. Very cool web site!! Man .. Beautiful .. Superb .. I’ll bookmark your web site and take the feeds also…I’m glad to find a lot of useful info here in the article. Thank you for sharing..

  • I also like the imagery of rain. Like He corns when Hes needed. Never early. Never late. When we need it.

  • Kathleen

    Praise God for his faithfulness.

  • Juanita DJ Camarillo

    My favorite part of this verse is the reminder that His timing is sovereign. To us it may appear that He comes early or late, but the timing from our perspective is irrelevant. For us the only thing that matters is that He will come, as surely as the dawn. We must defer to Him on the timing. It is for His glory and our good that He does what He does when He does it. Our God us good!

  • I had this in my email signature for ages. Love love love love it. As surely as the dawn–we never question that light comes after night. He is even more sure.

  • Christina Lyttle

    I love the idea of saving these images to our phones. Thank you, She Reads Truth!

  • I have saved one of the above images on my phone to help me with my memorization. I was just curious though why the entire verse was not included in the images, if the images are intended to aid in memorization? They do look pretty, but I feel the portion left out is so very important. Just my input! I do love this site though. Thank you for all the hard work that clearly goes into it.

    My life is crazy right now. I think that’s the best way to put it. God has put me through some trials this past year, but I am thankful because they have drawn me closer to him. I love how you all are encouraging scripture memorization. This verse is beautiful and exactly what I needed right now. Thank you she reads truth for this beautiful ministry. It is a bigger blessing than you know.

  • Thank you for the memory verse.

    This scripture is something that I needed! It speaks so much truth. I sometimes forget that no matter what he is there with me. Even when I think I am going it alone an through trials and tribulations when I am asking why he is with me. I am reading this as we are about to get hit with a thunderstorm and thinking wow, what timing. Prayers also for you Tami. You are not alone. I will be praying. This study is something that I can come and gone from and I notice the difference when I am not here. I am glad I am back and able to read this study. Life has not been easy and struggle seems to always be happening but this is what I needed tonight. I am so thankful for this community that is there and we can reach out and help each other.

  • LaurenC_

    Needed to read this tonight! Our Lord is sure, He is true. No matter how confusing life can be, God is present and faithful forever. Let's run the race He sets for us and press on, through it all, to truly know Him!

  • Thanks for the lock screen – it’s been so helpful in memorizing this scripture. And beautiful to look at too! :)

    Thankful for this weekly Truth chosen! Leaning into His Promise and Power! Thank you (and for the image also)!

    Enjoy a blessed SONday in Him and a wonderful week ahead in Hosea!

    Blessings, love and prayers,

  • After one week of study and contemplation, I’m so conflicted. Although this study has helped me stay within alignment with my faithfulness to God, it also came at a time when my ex-husband decided this would be the week to finally admit his multiple areas of unfaithfulness. I left him 6 years ago after years of blatant infidelity among other things. He has never once admitted or apologized for his wrongs. His apologies and confessions this week came the same day we read Chapter 2. He echoed the exact words shared in this chapter and yet he has no idea this is what I’m currently studying. It was quite surreal. This week also marks the week I finally decided to begin dating again. So here I am…reflecting on my own spiritual unfaithfulness and the pursuit of God, my ex-husband’s heart convicted and repentant and request to re-enter my life aka pursuit of me, and finally going on a date a new person who I’ve come to know for the last couple of months. The many emotions I am experiencing are varied and hard to explain. This study brought many things to surface for me that require reflection and being still to hear his voice. So thankful for a faithful God. That He remains the same, even when we are a mess. That he loves is unconditionally even when our emotions whip in the wind. That he is the strength in our weakness and the sunshine during the rain.

    • Beth Starkey

      Prayers for you right now, friend.

    • shereadstruth

      Wow, Tami. His Word is living and active, indeed, isn't it? This is a lot – praying for you right now. -Raechel

    • Jenny Raymond

      Wow! God’s timing is truly amazing, isn’t it? Praying for you, for clear direction, a pure heart seeking Him, and the strength to deal with it. I am so very thankful that our God is one who gives us such a clear example of His love.

    • LaurenC_

      "So thankful for a faithful God. That He remains the same, even when we are a mess." Yes! Amen. Praying for you tonight, Tami.

    • Carolyn

      Praying for you now, Tami. How surely Gid is loving you through this Scripture.

    • Jennifer LaPrees

      Prayers for your heart

  • Amen! Come LORD!

  • Ashley S.

    The fact that God will surely come to us regardless of what we have done is always something we can be grateful about!

  • I absolutely love this verse (and the first 2 that come before it). It is one of the passages of scripture that I chose to memorize during a rather tough time in my life and I am so glad I did. Anytime that I am feeling weak or that God has abandoned me, I say these verses and it helps so much. I've said it when I'm anxious, when I'm sobbing, when I just need a quick reminder. And God always reminds me he is there.

  • I have a love/hate relationship with this app. The realization of how wretched I am as a sinner is something that is often lost on me. But how can I begin to fully fathom how much He has done for me without this? Seeing myself in the sins listed in Hosea has been a reminder again for me. God did NOT send His only Son to die for me because I am an “ok person” or “a pretty good person.” He died for me because I am full of sin & I fail so often. As a woman of Christ, I cannot flourish without realizing how ugly I am on the inside before Christ. Thank you for challenging me daily!

    • Raechel

      Oh, Melody – what sweet, sweet thoughts to share this morning. It's hard and wonderful all at once. Praising God that you are being so sensitive to His word in this study. Thanking God for you! -Raechel

    • Margaret

      What a powerful realization in your statement that "God did NOT send His only Son to die for me because I am an "ok person" or "a pretty good person." Without his sacrifice of love, I would be completely and utterly lost on my own 'merit'. Thank you!

  • Love this week’s verse! What a beautiful reminder of His faithfulness. It is sometimes hard to grasp that He is truly faithful all the time, no matter how many times I run from Him. Wow. What great love!

  • lbdempster

    Let us press on. He will come to us. Holding onto this promise today.

  • After a week of this study that has challenged and convicted me and been hard, this reminder is fresh and beautiful. He is constant and sure and provides what we need. It's a promise.

    Hosea 6:3

    3 Yes, let us know (recognize, be acquainted with, and understand) Him; let us be zealous to know the Lord [to appreciate, give heed to, and cherish Him]. His going forth is prepared and certain as the dawn, and He will come to us as the [heavy] rain, as the latter rain that waters the earth.

    We’re ready to study God,
    eager for God-knowledge.
    As sure as dawn breaks,
    so sure is his daily arrival.
    He comes as rain comes,
    as spring rain refreshing the ground.

    So thankful for these beautiful graphics that we have the privilege to enjoy as we savor His Word. Happy Sunday SRT friends!

      I do this too – look up the different translations for our weekly truths. I love seeing how each one interprets God's Word. I usually always use these two translations too! Blessings over your study!

  • stinav96

    "Let us press on to know the Lord." Reverse that lack of knowledge that destroys us. Press on! This verse is exceptionally beautiful to me as it illustrates a recent catechism we've been working on that tells us that the two major themes of the Bible are Who God is and His covenant with man. He is sure. He will come. He is nourishing. He has promised. Amen.

  • Memorization is not as easy as it use to be but, wow what a promise!!! ". HIS GOING OUT IS AS SURE AS THE DAWN; HE WILL COME TO US AS THE SHOWERS, AS THE SPRING RAINS THAT COVER THE EARTH.". Hosea 6:3 I will work on memorizing this today. Thanks for the reminder that we must hide God's words in our heart.

  • Love these beautiful words and the truth they represent! Thanks! ~ B

  • Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord;
    His going out is sure as the dawn;
    He will come to us as the showers,
    as the spring rains that water the earth.
    — Hosea 6:3

    Letting the 'Worthy Owner' of these Truthful words, the One I press on to know, (God), reign over me and mine today….Praising, rejoicing and thanking the Lord God for this new day….Amen…

    Thanking you all for your kind and loving wishes yesterday….A great and blessed day with family….celebrating a bit more with more family and friends….

    With love and all things good, prayed for you all….bless you…xxx

  • I have found that I don’t memorize scripture like I used to. Thank you for the reminder that I need to.

  • Love this precious truth. Thanks for the encouragement @shereadstruth!
