Weekly truth

Today's Text: Titus 3:5

Text: Titus 3:5a

We long to be a community who not only reads and studies God’s Word, but also writes it on our hearts so we can lean on it throughout our day, speak truth to ourselves and others, call it to mind and have hope.

Today let’s memorize this amen-bringing, hallelujah-inducing, praise-hands-worthy gospel reminder from the apostle Paul’s letter to Titus:

“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy…”
Titus 3:5a

Jot this verse down a few times in your journal, tape it by the kitchen window or on your desk at work, save the image below as the lock screen on your phone— do whatever works best for you to allow this truth to sink into your heart and mind as you walk forward in this new week. His mercy—not our goodness—has saved us! Thanks be to God!

Sisters, I am so encouraged by this community. I am a little behind in the Titus series but The Lord has meant it to be at good work in my heart and because of His great transforming power. I am being taught deeply about grace. All my life I have known Jesus but in my heart I clinged to my works/behavior/attitude righteousness. This has kept me and from knowing true freedom. I had experienced some extreme heartache this last year that caused some severe anxiety and depression and hopelessness. Hopelessness is not the face of someone who knows the grace and mercy of our God through his Son Jesus but I was there. I still, at times, feel the aching swell of this sin in my heart that pulls me away from my Lord. I am going through the RZIM Academy as well and the first reminder we have gone through is 1 Peter 3:15, “But in your hearts, honor Christ The Lord as holy…” This really caused me to consider if I had done so. I recognized that I had not been living in this way. That despite my feelings, struggles, sin and trials Christ was still Lord and I had not established this into heart. I was reluctantly serving and seeking and did not desire to honor Him. It’s A struggle, no doubt, and it’s a conscious effort that needs to be made at times to seek The Lord. But the beauty of this is that God knows what he has “gotten himself into” with us and when it’s difficult for me to keep my eyes on Him, he ALWAYS makes it easy to come back and keep my eyes on Him longer. I think that this is what Was meant when He stated his yoke is easy and His burden is light. He is very welcoming and opposite of all the world says to do and how to get there. We are blessed to be known by Him. I am blessed through every doubt and struggle because HE is always there.

  • Beautiful & such a gift you have, Angela!

  • Is anyone ever heard of the song Love by Nat King Cole? It goes something like this

L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only I see
    V is very very extraordinary.

Well to get to the point I wrote out a diffrent version of the song turning it into a praise/love song toward God. Yay!

    LOVE

L is for the love You’ve shown me
O is for the One that makes my life complete.
    V is very, very lovely
And E is everyday that Your beauty I see

All my love I forever give to you
My eyes now opened to Your grace so true
    My life I surrender.
According to your will mold and make me
You are the only one my heart adores

L is for the love You’ve shown me
O is for the One that makes my life complete.
    V is very, very lovely
And E is everyday that Your beauty I see

All my love I forever give to you
My eyes now opened to Your grace so true
    My life I surrender.
According to your will mold and make me
You are the only one my heart adores

You are the only one my heart adores

You are the only one my heart adores

You are the only one my heart adores

I wonder what other love songs I can change into praise songs.

    ❤️

That is beautiful! God bless you sister!

      I. Love. This! You, my sister, are so cool! There's so many secular songs that have totally touched my heart about God's love for me/expressed my love for Him. Little lyrics here and there that perfectly frame our relationship, His never-ending grace for me. Isn't it beautiful that everything shouts His glory– that even things meant for men can be praise? God bless you, sister. Love you! Be blessed this week!

    • Jordan

Love this! So beautiful. If you come up with any more songs to change, post em here! <3

What a fun way to turn a song around towards God. Please continue sharing!

  • Thank you Lord.

  • Liane Michelle

AMEN!! God's grace and mercy knows no bounds and this is something to be incredibly thankful for!! Without it, we would all be missing out on the glorious eternal life He has prepared for us in heaven. Thank you so much ladies for being here this week and helping me dig deeper into the Word! God spoke volumes to me this week. He has been doing a great work within my heart and soul and I pray that He is is doing the same in yours.

    • AnnaLee

He is, Liane! Thank you for your brilliant comments, the Lord is blessing us through them! Let us rely on His grace and mercy more and more each day! Blessings, sister.

I read this in my Titus commentary today by John MacArthur- " Gods purpose in choosing and saving us is to make us like Himself- holy, pure, blameless, righteous, and perfect. The evidence of our election is found in our justification. The evidence of our justification is found in our sanctification, the evidence of our sanctification will be manifested in our glorification". After I read that I was literally sitting at my table in a local cafe mouth ajar just processing the whole thing. wow. wow. wow.

  • Dear LORD cast your glory on all of my sisters.!!

  • “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy…”
    Titus 3:5a

Yes. He showed me this last night in a HUGE way. Father… let me not rely on my good works to bring me what only you can give. Have your way in me, Jesus. Have YOUR way. Not mine. Amen.

Finally getting caught up with this study! Ahhh! Love that prayer of Jesus having His way in us! What a beautiful prayer! I'm so thankful He revealed His truth to you. I love all that He shows us when we spend time studying His word. Blessings sister!

  • Very thankful for this today!!

  • Thank you GOD for you mercy, kindness, compassion toward us.

  • this salvation we enjoy is only because of His love and mercy toward us. I am mindful of the privilege we as believers have of getting this, the world has no use for grace, mercy or salvation. their world is ordered by an eye for an eye,the lies they have believed that give them some sleep at night. But, we who know the truth can celebrate this amazing gift. Ps. 91:16 is a promise I am resting in today.
with a long life I will satisfy him. and let him see my salvation.

    • AnnaLee

Amen. Let every breath be for Him. Always! Praise Him! <3

    • CarrieLynne31

Love that verse. And how refreshing that we can rest in the fact that this gift of salvation is not based on our works! What a wonderful gift He gave us! Thanks for sharing!

  • Grace is not a reward for being good. What a relief to know after reading the book of "rules" for being good! Of course we still always strive but I am so thankful that mercy and grace are ours no matter what.

  • joanne sher

Amazing mercy that we could never earn – so grateful that we don’t have to!

  • Amen. Its nothing good that we have done. We can never do enough to earn the grace and mercy of our Lord and savior. But because of who He is. All loving, merciful, kind caring and filled with grace. He looks down on us and saves us by His tender mercy. What a faithful God we serve.

    Blessed Sunday Sissies! :*

    • AnnaLee

Yes, Praise God– that His love covers us and sets us free. Let us be wrapped in it, abiding in Him! Love you sister!

  • stinav96

Thank you for highlighting this key verse! Titus: the book of "rules" for godly living, rules that cannot be followed, accomplished, or meaningfully beneficial without the beautifully freeing mercy and grace of the loving, magnificent God of the universe. Amen!

    • AnnaLee

Amen!! Thank the Lord that He doesn't just give us the instructions for dancing– He sends Himself and His grace to dance with us, to help us get up when we fall. So beautiful! We love you, Lord Jesus! Bless you friend.

  • sweetdes2014

Thank you God for Your mercy!!

  • Amen! Tomorrow I think I am going to leave my memory verse card somewhere, to brighten someone else's day. Have a wonderful day Sisters!

Also, thank you for all of the prayers! The pain has gone down a lot since yesterday, and I am feeling much better.

    • Libby

Great way to use the card!!

    • AnnaLee

Praise God that He healed your pain! I'll continue praying! :) and that's a beautiful way to share the Love of Christ. Be blessed this week, friend!

    • CarrieLynne31

Love that idea! And I'm so glad to hear that your pain is getting better. Praise the Lord!

  • Amen. If it were up to me, I couldn't do enough to earn his mercy. How grateful and blessed I am . Have a glorious week, all my sisters in Christ.

    • AnnaLee

I completely second that statement, Tricia. We never could. Praise Him, that He knows this better than we do. :) Walking in grace is so beautiful. May the Lord bless you and keep you in His grace and mercy! Goodnight, friend.

  • Amen. Thank You, Lord!
