Weekly Truth | Isaiah 26:8

Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. {NIV}

What is your most noted accomplishment. They may want good listeners rather than good talkers.

  • Everyday when I wake up I’m excited to read my daily devo yet the words I’ve read need to be remembered all day and always. This is where I stumble ‘Lord is the rock external’. Everything in life can come and go yet God is everlasting. He is the Alpha and Omega.
Being new to reding as studying Hid words had only fueld my love and thirst for getting to really know Him more.

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are FIXED on you!” (V.8)(NLT)
Wow I loved this!!! I woke up this morning and one of my prayers was “God please show me to completely TRUST you with my relationships, work, finances and then I read this scripture which spoke so clearly!!
When I fix my eyes on God and everything he is and everything I am in him there is no room for fear!!
He is Love, his grace is sufficient, he is truth, he thinks countless precious thoughts towards us, all things are possible in him….and the list is endless!! :)
I’m going to continue to seek him daily and focus on him & I will live in perfect peace!! :)
Thank you father for your answer to my prayer!
Hope all you wonderful ladies are BLESSED & fixing your eyes on him today xxx

  • I feel silly asking, but where is the lockscreen? Am I missing it?

  • In what ways are you seeking God on a regular basis?
By meeting Him in the morning with worship songs, prayer and Bible study. Some mornings are more difficult that others, some mornings I just mumble a quick prayer before I hurry off to do something else. But daily God invites me to come to Him in prayer during my day. “My heart has heard you say ‘Come and talk with me. And my heart responds ‘Lord, I am coming” (Ps 27:8 NLT) and He tells me constaantly that it does not have to be elaborate. All I have to do is speak to Him like I would my best friend and lover because that is what He is to me. Yesterday, I posted in a comment that I was seeking direction concerning a decision I was about to make. I discovered yesterday from a friend that Joseph has had some scandal in the recent past that he never mentioned to me. He says that he’s not that person anymore (and hey, he might be telling the truth…I don’t know) As much as it hurts and invites me to become bitter please pray that I forgive completely. I’m taking Kairy’s advice on waiting. I’ll wait on God till I have a clear sense of Him leading me into a relationship with Joseph or out of it. I get to do bible study with all you women and my heart knows that it can find God here also. Thankful for ALL of you

  • Verse 3&4 are my favorite. ‘Perfect peace’ in verse 3 and ‘Always protect us” in verse 4. God wants us to have that ‘Perfect peace’ and the only way we can have it, is to fully trust in him and know that no matter wht we r going thro he is there for us. He says in verse 4 that he will ALWAYS protect us. I like that word ALWAYS. Trust him fully and he will Always protect u.

I love verse 3! And no matter which version I read this chapter, I always "hear" in my heart the way I memorized it years ago: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.

Oh Father, keep my mind stayed on Thee; keep me trusting — because I so desire that "perfect" peace. Not expecting life to be easy, but by Your grace I can have a quiet joy in any circumstance.

  • “My soul yearns for you in the night; my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.” (Isaiah 26:9a ESV)

Oh, how I want this to be true for me! So…How AM I seeking God on a regular basis? Well doing this devotional, of course, is one way. I attend church & participate in a small group regularly. But I feel I could be doing more.

Thanks for your sharing, ladies! Have a blessed rest of your night!

  • jesusgirl71

Michelle, love that verse in the NLT version! Didn’t realize until you posted it how much it added. Ellen MR, that is so cool from the AMP. Amykelly, praying for you. Cynthia, never thought of that before about introducing God. Wow! Very life-changing, as others have said.

  • jesusgirl71

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord , the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal. The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth. (Isaiah 26:3, 4, 7
These are the verses that spoke to me today. I especially have always loved verse 3. How am I seeking God daily? Hmm. Trying to pray more and reading His Word. Going over verses I have memorized and trying to be still before Him more.

  • Ellen MR

How are you seeking God on a regular basis?
For me, by becoming involved with SRT and starting my day, everyday, by doing these devotions and praying quickly became my habit!
I was/am excited to see what is next, and I always ask God to soften my heart so that his word works on and in me. This creates such a desire to know and learn more, more, more! So i was curious to see how many bible apps there are- imagine my surprise to see there are soo many!! I downloaded an app to start memorizing bible verses now too. I’m not very technologically astute, so I was glad to manage it, lol!
I really liked verse 3 today in the AMP version:
“You will guard him and keep him in perfect peace
whose mind [both in its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.”
So I will lean on Him, hope in Him and commit myself to TRUST Him!!
“Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord,
Is the Rock eternal…” v.4 NIV
That surely, is something to hold on to-my Rock eternal! :)
    FAITH, Ladies!

  • Michelle

Thanks for sharing, Kairy. The waiting is always especially difficult for me.

I loved this morning's reading. All week I have been reminded that peace is found in the Lord alone; fear and worry only have a foothold when I leave His presence and allow my mind to wander from Him and His Word. I struggle with worrying about the future and a need to have everything planned out. I have been learning (or reminded!) that PERFECT PEACE really is there when my mind is steadfast and I TRUST in Him.

I like the NLT version of the memory verse this week: "Lord, we show our trust in You by obeying Your laws; our hearts' desire is to glorify Your Name."

I am praying for a week of intentionally seeking and trusting Him, for myself and the SRT ladies!

  • "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!" (V.8)(NLT)

I have to confess that it took me about 3-4 repeat readings of this portion of scripture this morning to absorb anything. My ADHD brain is at it again. But how appropriate this verse (above) is for me today. To have my thoughts fixed on ANYTHING for more than a second is a real gift this week. Writing things out helps a lot in focusing on a thought, so I am so thankful for this platform to do so.

One of the ways I seek God regularly is to come to Him first thing in my day and ask Him to provide for the things that I naturally lack (like a functioning brain today). Other days it might simply be motivation to accomplish all my tasks or the ability to clearly articulate (speak/write) what I am thinking, or to be an example of grace and forgiveness to those around me.

It feels vulnerable to admit that I have a need. Many needs. But God cannot do anything effectively or worthwhile in my life unless I am willing to let go of my fleshly pride and come to Him with my needs. To lay them down at His feet and cry "Abba Father!!!! I cannot DO….without You!!!!" Father, I cannot. I will not. I need You. Be my all in all.

  • thank you @Kairy. i pray that i may learn to wait. learn to wait on You. it WILL be worth it.

  • I see this scripture as a reminder to continue and strive to follow Gods laws but also wait for his voice to guide us. We can see that in a Joyce Meyer teaching that says: Learn to Wait

People often ask me, ‘How can I know for sure whether I’m hearing from God or just making things up?’

I believe the answer is to learn to wait. With big decisions, we often feel the need to hurry. We must do something and do it right now! But godly wisdom tells us to wait until we have a clear picture of what we are to do and when we are to do it.

We all need to develop the capacity to take a step back and view every situation from God’s perspective. Only then can we make decisions the way He wants us to.

Strength is found in waiting. When you wait upon the Lord, you can sense in your spirit what the Lord actually wants you to do, not what you think He wants you to do.

When you are faced with any difficult decision, it is wise to wait until you have a clear answer before taking a step you may regret. It might feel uncomfortable and you may want to hurry, but don’t allow that pressure to take precedence over the wisdom and knowledge of God.

Prayer Starter: Lord, I don’t want to get so caught up in the heat of the moment that I make a decision I regret. Remind me to daily wait on You. It might be difficult, but receiving Your wisdom and knowledge is worth it.

    • Crystal

Sorry Kairy, on my kindle and I meant to hit thumbs up not down :( I love what you have said here! I struggle with the waiting, something I really need to work on!

    • Ibukun

Kairy! Words cannot begin to adequately describe how timely this is for me. I have read this particular teaching of Joyce Meyer on waiting in my devo but in the time I was to remember it, I forgot. Thank you for bringing this to my remembrance!

  • AmyKelly213

I agree, Cynthia!! And I loved what you said about introducing God… I laughed out loud, but you are so right!! I need to remember that always!

In what ways are you seeking God on a regular basis?
Meeting with good sisters like you on a daily basis, digging deeper and reflecting on God's word, looking for ways to apply that word everyday so that I become closer to God.

This week is full of milestones I have to face, beginning with worship this morning where I will have to come face to face with my past. I do have to admit I am a bit nervous, but not as much as I thought I would be… Probably more because I expect I am supposed to be.
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or discouraged because The Lord is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

  • In what ways are you seeking God on a regular basis?

It is easy to say we will focus (seeking) on God. BUT… if we do not have a plan of steps to take, making sure that we follow through, our intentions will remain just that … A GOOD IDEA OR PLAN. (I am guilty of this)

Combating fear requires action. Yes we must believe … Yes we must renew our mind … Yes we must speak those things that are not as though they were … BUT … Unless we put feet to our intentions it is not faith.

Father I commit to begin and end my day in Your Word. I will engage You in conversation (prayer) throughout the day as if You are standing right beside me (and He is) every step of the way. I will not be afraid or ashamed to introduce You to others (because if He is standing there…that would JUST be rude), Amen.

Prayerfully, these will be steps that will make me more conscious of my Father. We walk by faith and NOT by sight. Ladies … let us walk worthy of our calling.

  • I think this verse is a very solid reminder for me, at least, to always be with God no matter what. It's so easy to step away from God. In good or bad times or lazy times. I am one of those people that when i want to hide from whatever seems like too much…instead of always going to my faith and prayer I hide. God is with me always and slogging and celebrating through life, whatever it maybe, with God is essential. I feel so much more leveled, as the verse discusses, when I'm at peace and connected to God.

  • I love v8 above but also v9 really challenged me when I was trying to answer todays question
In what ways are you seeking God on a regular basis?

    Isaiah 26:9a NIV

My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you.

I shouldn’t just be coming before God out of habit each day. I want to wake up longing for more of God. To be so filled with his spirit that I am yearning for more of him. For my heart to be set on fire for God. Let there be only passion in my heart so full of excitement at the potential for what you may achieve through me each day. May this overflow so there is no room for fear or doubt. That is how I want to seek God!
