It is easy to be caught up in fear. With each worry brings another reason for more. These thoughts take our mind captive—keeping us from clinging to His truth.

“The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” [v. 8, ESV]

It’s easy to get caught up in the lies of what our worlds deems most important.

So instead of allowing the fears of this world overtake you, cling today to His promises.

He will gather you in His arms. [v. 11]
He will lead you. [v. 11]

How is He comforting you today? How is He comforting you through His people? How can you be used to comfort those around you?

I really needed to hear this today. Money problems are severely plaguing my family. Prayers for God's path to be revealed would be greatly appreciated.

I place all my fears & worries into a neat little gift box, and give them to the Lord. I pray that I may be the person He created me to be today, and everyday.

God’s word is always timely and timeless! The tragic events in CT are indicative of our broken and sinful world, in desperate need of a Savior. We can always take comfort in Him and I’m so thankful for His people to help me remember that!

Everywhere I travel for work God puts people in my life for me to minister to and to minister to me. It just happens! It’s delightful!

No man can give what God can and if you look to man you will be disappointed and let down. Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. For HE is able and willing to do what he promises.
Bless you all!

Fear has been a follower of me all of my adult life; however, I am comforted in knowing faith cannot reside where fear lives and I truly want God to use me for His purpose and glory. Much like a number of you I am in the midst of someone choosing to no longer be in my life. In this time of sadness God is using this place to not only transform my mind but to show me and others who are watching (and believe me people are watching how you respond to adversity) that He can do all things providing we are obedient to His word. I thank Him this evening for this difficjlt place I am in for it is through my ashes that beauty will emerge. God is love.

I love the simplicity of today’s devotion. But it still hits deep with so many of us. I’m thanking God this afternoon that in the midst of it all, He is my comfort. in tight budgets, sick kiddos, physical discomforts, and changing relationships… he’s comforting me through it all. and in that, I’m able to comfort others! it’s a beautiful truth.

Comfort in the Lord is never ending. It's a very hard concept to grasp! Knowing that someone could love us, comfort us no mater what?! That in itself is comforting!!

It’s a shame, Jamey, that you are suggesting these services for these women. I’m sure that’s not what they need at the moment. They are doing the right thing by dwelling in God’s word and waiting for His plan to be revealed.

These verses really rocked me this morning. I feel loved, powerful, charged to Work for God, protected like a little child with the biggest brother in the school yard… I feel like telling everyone of my amazing Savior Jesus (I’ll start with Twitter & Facebook). Jesus! God really loves us!!!!!!! *voice of amazement and gratitude*

I love how His Word speaks to us individually – He meets each of us right where we are TODAY. What an amazing God we serve.

Verse 9 spoke to me this morning – "Get you up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news: lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not …"

We have good news to share! Yet I know I allow my fear to prevent me from sharing that good news. I so often stay in the shallow waters where it is "safe". Lord, help us to be bold. To lift up our voices in Your strength and in Your truth and always in Your love.

Thank you Lord for this message. Previously you asked us to be wrecked and today u bring comfort. Fear invades our lives but ur word stands forever… I’m a withering flower right now… Going through a break up…supporting a best friend while her mom is dying of cancer…watching relationships break all around me…on days when there seems little positivity u bring hope. A place where u gather me in ur arms to comfort this broken child. I praise God for what he is doing in my life!!! And I praise Him that His word lasts for ever!

Nicole, this really spoke to me. I am going through a lot also. I was just thinking today that there is so much pain and so many relationships around me are crumbling too. I lost my grandmother earlier this year, and something drew me to a song that she always used to sing. It is an old hymn called "Because He Lives." If you aren't familiar with the words, the chorus says:

Because he lives
I can face tomorrow
Because he lives
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life and is worth the living
Just because he lives

I was praying this morning for God to give me some kind of inspiration and some peace, and he dropped this song into my heart. It reminds me of my wonderful, beautiful grandmother, and it reminds me that life is worth living just because he lives. And that is saying so very much.

This passage speaks so much to me today. It references Israel while they are still deeply plunged in exile in Babylon after their stubbornness and idolatry to Yahweh and wanting to be so much like the pagan nations around them (sound familiar?)
God speaks to them and says, I love you still. You have sinned but paid double for your sins. (Read the first 39 chapters of Isaiah) And its time now to proclaim boldly from the highest mountain tops that the Lord has returned to Jerusalem.

And what speaks to me this advent season is that even in my sin and my unfaithfulness, let me be drawn, tenderly, back into the comforting love of God. Let my eyes and heart be opened again to know and believe that Jesus wants, more than anything, “to comfort me, feed me, gather me in His arms, carry me in His bosom, and gently lead me.”
Thank you God for Your promises. No matter what my situations are now, this day in December, I will declare boldly and with a loud voice the Good News for all to hear that will listen.
“Behold, the Lord Yahweh comes with might,
and his arm rules for him;
behold, his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.”
Isaiah 40:10

I focused on a different part of the passage – I feel like my heart has been in a bit of a spiritual wilderness and I am comforted because of the assurance that we will all see the glory of The Lord. I want to experience that again.

Ops hit the button by mistake. Began my devotions this morning I began to go over some bills, and some statements. Something that I expected didn’t come thru. Dissappointment turned to sadness and sadness into fear. I found myself in the middle of what ifs . Fear had my heart racing . Then I began to read and pray!
God did not give us a spirit of fear. Charlie thank u for your words.
I confess that I am a bless woman among men. I am the head and not the tail.
Jesus is the reason for the season!

The blessings of The Lord ! Fear use to have such a hold on me but I keep in mind God’s promises to us. I know that what God has planed for me no one can destroy or rearrange, I believe and have faith in His promises. So many times I am blessed by encounters with others and I thank God because its always right on time. As I have friends that also help with the word of God, reminding me when I start questioning things, that The Lord is for Me! I Stand on Psalms 40:1-2:
I waited patiently for the LORD to help me,
and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along. (Psalm 40:1, 2 NLT)

I whole heartedly accept the Journey The Lord has prepared and created for me! I know that He will never leave nor forsake me! Don’t be afraid sisters. Take a look at where you are in life and think of your past. Realize how far you have come ! Don’t be afraid, He has a plan for each of us! :-). I have been through pain; by others and myself and what I have learned is God Does and Will Heal You! Thank Him because you are not where you were last week! Blessings to you all… The Lord will prepare your steps before you. Love you!

Amen sister! I truly believe this and I am waiting for The Lord to give me guidance I know he has a plan for me and my family so I am trying to prepare my children and myself to become more like Him so that we can take the journey that he has planned for us. His word inspires me and protects us all if our families as long as we are willing to learn it so we can know it and Him better.

Today the Lord is comforting me with his Spirit as I read the scriptures. I am continually strengthened by His words, particularly this passage in Isaiah and these two scriptures:

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear” (1 John 4:18).
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (1 Timothy 1:7).

Fear is scary, trying and disturbing. You are right. It takes us captive, and God doesn't want that. He wants to free us. We must look to Him, have faith and press forward. I know that if we simply love God, do His will and love and serve others we are then promised that we will overcome our fears and that our burdens will be made light.

So many have blessed my life by being answers to prayers–small and large. It makes me want to be that type of person–one who is in tune with the Spirit–so I can be prompted to do the Lord's work on Earth.

I also really love verse 11, He is indeed our Shephard, and we are his flock.

A message I really needed to hear. It is so easy to base our faith by how we feel but I was reminded if we do that we are blown by the wind. If we base our faith on his truth then the comfort we know will be ever lasting. I also think there is a challenge in v1 not just to be comforted but to go out and comfort others reveal Gods love for them in their time of need.
