Have you ever told a friend that you’d pray for them, but then not really been sure exactly what to pray? Or worse, forget the commitment that you made to your friend to pray all together?
In this passage, Paul and Timothy (note the occurrences of “we” and “us” throughout this section) tell their “partners in the gospel” at Colossae that they’re praying for them – not just individually, but in tandem. (Remember Jesus’ words in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Paul and Timothy are living Christ’s words!) And in this passage, they tell the Colossians (and us!) just exactly how they are lifting their brothers and sisters in Christ before the throne.
Now, if you’re a list maker like me, you’re going to love this next part. (I can’t help but want to bust out some bullet points and really study this ministry of intercession!) Let’s make a list together of the specific things Paul and Timothy are praying, shall we?
Praying For Our Friends
1. Thank God for them. (v. 3)
2. Ask that they will be given wise minds with spirits attuned to his will (v. 9)
3. Pray that they will honor God with their lives (v. 10)
4. Pray that they will bear fruit in every good work (v. 10)
5. Pray that they will increase in the knowledge of God (v. 10)
6. Ask that they will be strengthened in all power with endurance and patience with joy. (v. 11)
7. Ask that they would also give thanks to the Father from Whom their inheritance comes (v. 12)
So, what now?
Sisters, what if we prayed these things with and for our friends (our partners in the gospel) faithfully?
What if they prayed these things for us?
I encourage you to commit with a friend (in your church, in your city, in another country, or in the SheReadsTruth community) to pray these specific things for each other this week (and beyond, of course!). Don’t have anyone you can ask to pray with and for you? Leave a comment below and ask! We’re a community who reads truth together and prays together. Let’s use God’s Word as our guide to pray – really pray – in tandem for our partners in the gospel!

Ok, so I’m about a week behind on this study, but I would absolutely love to partner with someone. Getting to know another sister in Christ, and learning how I can be praying for them specifically, sounds like such an incredible opportunity to experience community in a new way. It’s hard to tell who has already partnered up from previous posts, so here’s my email if anyone is still looking: weavermo@gmail.com
I love this community of women.
I’ve had to take time away from college, and it’s been hard on me because the community I had there was amazing. I haven’t had that sense of community at home until I started She Reads Truth about a month ago. I’d love to really start connecting with other women in this group!
trammel.megan@gmail.com

Good morning sisters, I am on day two of this plan & I am asking for your prayers. I’m 25 years old in grad school helping take care of my parents while working full time. At times I feel unappreciated & still treated like a child so please pray for myself & family to be a family again. Pray that my hardwork doesn’t go unnoticed.
I pray for every man, woman and child along with myself and my family everyday. This will be the first time I’ve prayed for a stranger specifically. If you feel the need for prayer I think I can help. Please contact me

Good Evening sisters!
Can I just praise God for this forum right quick? I’m so glad I stumbled across this on my YouVersion bible! I’m loving this already!
Well, I too sometimes feel awkward praying for others so this definitely made me think, how much strong would our spiritual walks be? How much more accountable would we feel if we had someone there to let us know when we stray? Amazing how God puts people in our lives to confirm what He’s been speaking to us individually…my prayer had been to find women seeking after Gods heart who I could fellowship with!
Im praying for you all but if anyone would like to connect with me personally, I’d love that too!

I am about in tears as I'm reading each woman's response to today's reading. Also, to see so many reaching out to one another in prayer! This is such a place of community! Thank you!
I am emailing you Hillary. I'd love to have a prayer partner.
It would be great to connect with another woman from this study! Email me if you're looking for a prayer partner hillaryhallam@gmail.com.
I loved this passage! The guidance about prayer was helpful, but the part that struck me in this passage was the part that said "This message has been bearing fruit and growing among you since the day you heard and truly understood God’s grace." (Common English Bible) As someone who is tentatively feeling out Christianity again, it struck me that the message has been in my heart since childhood, and maybe now is the time that I'm ready to work to truly understand it. I'd love a prayer partner, or just someone to discuss these readings with, so email me if you like! lsmith0390 [at] gmail [dot] com :)
Hello,
I would love to have a prayer partner from the she reads truth community! My email is manleysa@hotmail.com
Something interesting i wanted to share with you guys, i read this devotional while on skype with my boyfriend. we were doing our own things so we werent really talking all that much, anyways i pulled out my journal and decided to write down the four things to pray for – with the prayer partner. Now i know it says pair up with a friend and pray for this person but for some reason i decided to ask my boyfriend to help me in picking someone to pray for. Thinking he would give me the name of one of my friends/closest friends he tells me pray for the person that you dislike the most. He gave me the name that i choose not to share on here but it really caused a resistance in me like no way im not gonna do that (even though i agreed with him) especially since that person wont be praying for me. Then i truly felt in my spirit that God wanted to challenge me with this. Since the beginning of this devo says to ask God to soften our hearts i figured how appropriate would this be to accept the challenge & let God mold me through this. Just thought it was interesting how God works in mysterious ways with challenging us!
God bless you girls and enjoy this week of prayer with your partners!
7 things im sorry *
I would love a prayer partner. I am 18 years old, been a Christian for a little over 2 years, and trying to get into the Word as much as possible. Any other ladies out there around the same age looking to partner up? You can find me on Twitter @LongLiveClassy or email me :) megancarnett@gmail.com
I hope to find a prayer partner, email me at gisealberty@gmail.com ;)
Hi…this is the third time I've tried to post today…if all three kick in, please just know that's how strongly I feel led to get connected here. :) I've been praying for women with whom I can grow and be real and learn and pray, and He brought me here yesterday to day 1 of Colossians. His grace is so amazing, and He provides…I feel He is providing through this community!
I love the idea of a prayer partner! I would love to have one! There are so many of you wonderful ladies looking for one but I feel inadequate replying to your message. I’m a senior in high school, so I’m not the typical age of everyone else, but I would still love to be praying for one of you and vice versa! Email me at cjaymesh@aol.com or you can tweet me @charliehammond2
I would love a prayer partner. As the mom of 2 small children I need all the encouragent I can get! I would love to connect with another mom as well! My email is jdismukes82@gmail.com. Thanks!

I would love and need a prayer partner. My email is glitterstick97@comcast.net. I think this idea is truly awesome.
Virginia, would love to be your prayer partner!
I make prayer lists from time to time. I keep them in my journal. Since most of my friends don't specifically ask for me to pray for them (they just assume I will & I do) I just ask that God bless them and help them overcome anything that they are struggling with. If anyone wants to be prayer partners please feel free to let me know. I think this will be a great way to learn and grow while always thinking of others and wanting them to be blessed as well.
I’ve just recently discovered this group. Having a prayer partner would be an answer to prayer! My email is sivij@me.com
Can't describe my joy in reading this post and seeing all these amazing women respond! I would love to partner with someone in prayer in the SRT Community! Vann.family@yahoo.com

I would love a prayer partner! My email is emdstafford@gmail.com
I just discovered SRT on Sunday, and it has ALREADY blessed my life! I've had a lot of stress in my life lately, and with His help I'm really trying to focus back in on my reason for living. Prayers are already being given for the continuation of this ministry!
I am so glad to have found the SRT community. Though I have been to insecure to reach out and comment. But I am now. I am a single, twenty-something, with very few friends in my city. It has been hard to find a group, even one, woman who I can relate to and share my life, spiritual and otherwise. Just need a friend, or two! So I have decided to reach out! I am missing accountability HUGELY in my life. I have been praying for it desperately. So glad to have found SRT.
my email is amyeschwarz@gmail.com…and I'm definitely identifying with the single-ness and 20-sonething-ness right now. Prayers!
This is awesome – I am a list maker and also fun it helpful to find some tangible items to Pray for specifically so it’s harder to allow my mind to wander…this is my first time doing the She Reads Truth reading plan at the actually time it is occurring! I’d love a prayer partner this week and possibly beyond! If anyone is looking for a partner, please email me at karanpeterson6@gmail.com!
Bit of a fly by right now but didn’t want to miss today… Loved this passage. I needed the encouragement and reminder to pray. I would love a sister to pray with. meganjuleadams@gmail.com

I love this prayer, just spent time praying for my friends and family. Each part of the prayer helped me to pray deeply for them.
I’m new to this community and am so encouraged by reading through these comments. To see the love, support, and life-giving here is awesome. Really excited to know y’all more.
I would love to have a prayer partner as well!
Hi Sarah,
Me too!! Email me if you want to. :) My email is caseybrackney@gmail.com.
Sweet sisters, I'm always hesitant to post links because it can sometimes leave me feeling icky inside but I really want to share this. My church did a series in the summer and one topic we covered was on prayer. God has done wonders in my heart over the past few years and I absolutely love prayer but even already having that love deep in my heart this sermon impacted my heart. http://www.churchonthewestside.com/qry/page.taf?i… I also (cue icky stomach feeling over sharing something by myself) wrote a post over at a blog I write for sometimes on increasing prayer. I hope it blesses you sisters. http://www.be-lovedblog.com/2012/06/26/spiritual-…
Nadine, your blog post and suggestions on increasing prayer brought tears to my eyes. Just as Jesus said “get thee behind me, Satan” you need to say “Get behind me, icky feeling in my stomach”. Satan did NOT want you to post the links. I’m very grateful you did
Betty, you made ME cry now. Thank you.
I would absolutely love a prayer partner, please email me at briehope@icloud.com if you’re interested :)
Hi Brianna, I am sending you an email right now!
Just awesome! Contacting some of you now!
I’m new to the SheReadsTruth studies, but I’m really encouraged to see such a great online community of women! I’d like to connect with a prayer partner as well. My email is eppiewyckoff [at] gmail [dot] com
Emailing you eppie
Emailing you, Hilary!
Would love a prayer partner as well. My email is hilarywallis at gmail dot com
I'm so grateful that God lead me to the #shereadstruth community! I've been seeking a woman to pray with as I find it difficult to ask this from my friends. Most of my female friends are Christians but do not pray daily nor read/study the bible and make it a priority. My email address is eloquence1922@gmail.com if someone would like to link up and become prayer partners!
Hello bianca, I will email you
Wooow…I'm awed by how beautiful this community is
Good morning friends! I have been longing for a prayer partner. I often begin praying for others & then just slip into praying for myself. How selfish! God convicted me of that this morning and how I tell people I’ll pray for them and then end up either forgetting or never checking back with them to see how they are doing.
I’d love to have someone as my prayer partner. I really need that accountability. My email is bryantalys @ gmail . com or you can find me on twitter @alys_hejl
Also, what do you ladies use to keep track of the prayer requests people ask of you? I am horrible about knowing who I told I’d prayer for/what the request was & I’m looking for a way to help me remember.
Thank you ladies. It’s encouraging to see this community.
I would love a prayer partner! I lost track if everyone was covered in the above comments, but if you sill need someone, I’m your girl. My email is juliewatsn (at) gmail (dot) com.
Emailing you- and praying for you right now!
I will email you Rebecca! I am excited about this opportunity!
Good morning my beautiful sisters in Christ!
Todays post was amazing! I often pray for my friends, but then become lost for words.
How do I pray for them? This post explained that perfectly!!
I would love to pray for someone and them pray for me as well!!!
p_rose_10@yahoo.com is my email!!! I hope to hear from someone soon!!!
I would love to pray with you ladies through prayer partnering!! E-mail me at ramcclain13 [at] gmail [dot] com ! :)
I am so humbled to be a part of such a wonderful community of ladies! Praise God for EACH of YOU!
I am fairly new here and have such a renewed yearning for His word. I am praying for all of you and thank you for praying for me also!
I too always feel like I don’t know how to pray properly. I feel secure in my one on one conversations but am insecure with praying in or for a group. I pray that He will guide and strengthen me in this area.
Have a blessed day EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!
Xoxo
I'm new to this She Reads Truth community, but I think it is so amazing to read these comments. In two days, I have already loved the Colossians study and am looking forward to more. I have been looking for women to connect and learn with and I'm hoping this is the place for me. I said a quiet prayer at my desk just now for all of you!
So awesome to read how people are connecting with one another! I would definitely love a prayer partner – how great would it be to know that someone is out there praying for me while I'm praying for them?
eleanormharte (at) gmail (dot) com
Wow but I spelled my name wrong – it is Eleanor!
I would love to find a prayer partner. I think there is nothing more valuable than joining together and lifting our voices and intentions to God. I have had health problems and prayer has carried me through it.
It seems that through this group and other avenues of my life, God has been convicting me about my prayer life. I long to pray with confidence and to see change around me. I would love to find a prayer partner. Someone I can pray for and with. Someone to help keep me accountable. If you would be interested, my email is jspencer2303{at}gmail{dot}com
I was so touched by the reading, yesterday I was thinking about how I don't always know how to pray for others well and then this morning I woke up to this. I would love to have someone to partner with in prayer.
Hi, I'd love to partner with you!! Email me :] amandaj.allen at yahoo OR find me on twitter @alovemultiplied
Wow, so cool reading these posts and seeing everyone connecting up to pray for each other! I have a good little group of ladies at church and we pray for each other and it is so uplifting to know they are there for me. I think it's great that we can connect on line with each other and do the same thing. Thankful for all of you and the way you have all encouraged me today just by your posts. I am praying for you!
Rockinitat55 I would love to be your prayer partner!! My email is katief@holyyoga.net. Can’t wait to connect with you!
What an amazing community of ladies that we are able to reach out to one another even though we have never met. Such a blessing!
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who struggles with what to say in prayer. I hear others pray and feel that I’m not eloquent enough. I know its what’s on my heart that matters but still can’t help feeling inadequate. Right here in his word is help for me. I would love to have a prayer partner to pray for me and that I can pray for in return. delindell@gmail.com
I feel the same way! I'm just getting started with the shereadstruth community and I feel I have so much to learn! I'd love to be your prayer partner so we can lift each other up. my email is jpbbeaver@gmail.com
Dawn I am emailing you right now. I'd love to be your prayer partner this week. God is really working out prayer in my life right now. One of my biggest struggles is feeling inadequate because I am not eloquent enough with my prayers and my vocabulary when I pray, just like you, but what a great reminder that God doesn't care about my words. Just my heart.
Hi Dawn! I'd love to be your prayer partner! My email is iamalighthouse@gmail.com
It's so cool to see how people are just eager to serve each other in this way! I've struggled with being consistent in praying for others and it's terrible! Having someone for accountability and friendship is nice, because you know how each other struggles with prayer. In recent years, I've really loved how much of a deeper relationship with my Savior has come from simply speaking my heart to him, praising him, and asking for guidance. It really is a sort of conversation! :)
Nikki, I’d love to be your prayer partner this week as I am looking for one also. I love the points in the reading today. I’ve written them down. I really hope to see change in my life as well as my friends lives after I begin praying for them exactly how the Bible instructs me too!
Good morning my sisters!
I am so excited reading the lesson this morning
Then I read everyones comments. Buzzing about Jesus…
How happy he must be. I pray often but my prayers are usually target prayers
What about those we don’t pray for…. Jesus told us to pray without ceasing
I would most like prayer n the #’ 2. 4. And 6.
Currently I am facing some physical challanges as I continue to do God’s work
In ministry. It is my desire to be effective…. to yield fruit.
I would love to pray with someone while I am praying for u all

I am really loving this in depth study of Colossians. I have been guilty of not following through on a prayer request or not knowing exactly what to pray for. Today I commit myself to truly praying for my friends the way that Paul prayed for Colossae.
I would also like a prayer partner. E-mail is jesusgirl71@gmail.com Also, I have in the past sometimes not known what to pray for. Thought it was just me!
Nicki, I would love to be your prayer partner—my email is perryl.bryson@gmail.com!
Similar to how we opened Philippians, this beginning made me think of my youth group.. I want to pray like this for them every day. Just like us, they are such amazing works in progress!
I was thinking the same thing! I have just recently started working with our youth and leading worship. My prayer has been for the students to really understand what worship is, more than just singing songs at church, but something you live out!
Dyan, I would love to be your partner! I’ll email you! So encouraged and challenged!
Just prayed for each and everyone of you! I don't know any of you but my Father knows you intimately and He knows all your needs. I am thankful for my sisters in Christ and for your desire to draw closer to our Lord!
A very good lesson on using Gods word to really pray. I never really read this chapter and broke it down this way. I’m going to highlight it in my bible and write down these questions the author has given us. My name is Cora and I am from Connecticut. I signed up to do this bible study with you. I saw it online. I asked if it was alright to join you- I watch church online.
I am beyond grateful for She Reads Truth. I have been reading along since the beginning and it has absolutely changed my heart. Such a gift! I would love to find a prayer partner. Please email me – natcbond@gmail.com

I know I have my mom prying for me and vise versa but I would really like to connect with one of the ladies out in this community. My email is: dyanrenee25@yahoo.com
I had read and thought how great a prayer this would be but being my selfish self I only thought to pray for myself. Shame on me, especially when I know how much others would benefit from this as well. Thank you shereadstruth writers for opening my eyes daily! You girls do a wonderful job!
Today’s reading really challenged me to be more intentional in prayer.
Phoebe, I would love to be your partner. My email is jennifer.bukola@gmail.com
I would love to connect with a prayer partner! My email address is phoebe.dc.scott@gmail.com

I would also like someone to connect with to be prayer partners. If you'd like to, please let me know! :)
I would love to connect and pray for one another. I think this is a wonderful idea. Email me @ mrs_ramseur @ me.com
Today’s reading really hit me hard too. I am so thankful for the writers of #shereadstruth and for their discernment. I have read this chapter so many times but have never read it as a list of ways to pray for my brothers and sisters. I am definitely going to copy this into my prayer notebook. Thanks again for a great devotional!
So often, I think I pray for specifics, i.e. a relative or friend is sick, someone is in need of financial relief, etc., but today's message and reading just resonates with me. It reminds me that prayer should be for everyone, even people I don't personally know, because we are all part of Christ's body and need intercessors to stand in the gaps for times when we may not know we need it.
If we all made a conscious effort to pray for one another's walk, how much stronger would we be as a collective whole and individually? Such a great reminder of how important prayer is, and I will do my best to improve my praying habits and start incorporating the prayers listed in today's message.
As someone who struggles praying for others and knowing what to say in prayer this passage really resonates with me. And having this community helps the Word to come alive.
That is such wise insight. I'm so thankful for this community!
I was thinking the same thing! I can spend plenty of time in "casual" prayer, just talking to God through my day, but when I sit down for some real prayer time I often think, "well, what more can I say?" and become just lost for words. A list straight from Scripture is just what I needed!
I think numbers 3&4 really stood out to me as a challenge to pray for friends to honour God in their lives today and that therefore they will see Gods fruit in their lives. The more we serve and offer ourselves to him the more we see God at work in our lives.
Ps. There are some great apps that my friends and I use to set prayer times in the day that help me set aside time for god throughout the day and not only pray about my situation at that time but remember friends, family and church
Would you share those apps, Claire! So great!
I would also love to know what apps you like! Thx!!
A couple years ago I had an alarm that went off each day reminding me to pray. Each month I would choose a different person to pray for every day. Sometimes I would tell them but usually I just kept it to myself. It helped increase prayer so much. That's so cool that you do that!
I will be praying for us as a community, but I'd really love to connect with someone to pray for specifically. Please let me know if you want this to be you! And, of course, I'd appreciate your prayers in return.
Nikki- I think this is an amazing idea! Please email me at holls_y@hotmail.com if you'd like to connect. :)
