Today's Text: Ephesians 1:1-2:22

[Together as a She Reads Truth community, we are reading through Ephesians. Sign up for the reading plan here!]

Take time to read through the scripture you’ve read over these past five days.  Read through your notes, focus on a specific section: take time to reflect on what you have learned.  We’d love to hear what God has been teaching you!

  • This is true. God has given us Brand New Life in him. God's Love is so real and so pure, Unlike any other. Ladies have a Blessed day!!!!

Ephesians 2:4-5 really speaks to me. We were dead in our transgressions and it is by grace we have been saved through faith. God really loves us and wants us to be with him. That’s what he wanted when we were created in the garden of Eden and unfortunately from that point on we were born with sin in our hearts. Too much sin to be with God but not enough for him to stop loving us. Not enough sin that God couldn’t send Christ to die for us. I have to thank God for not giving up on me, and I have to thank Jesus for believing that I was worth His death on that cross. Thank you Lord for saving my soul. #Amen

Thank God for his mercies that he gives to us daily. We often fall short, because we are not perfect. Daily we have to ask, God to forgive us of our sins. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace, which He made abound towards us in all wisdom and prudence he does this by telling us His will according to His good pleasure which he made Himself. When in a time of despair, due to the present times, He will gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in Heaven and which are on earth in Him. With that being said, he will work all things according to His will, for those that believe and love The Lord, in Him we have a reassured hope that will increase our faith to be conquerors over the enemy that daily tries to attack us through, our happiness, finance and our health.

Heavenly Father, I pray that you will give to us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened and that we may know what the hope of your calling is. Show us your exceeding greatness for we believe that according to the working of your mighty power which works in Christ, when you raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him at your right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name. You put all things under your feet and gave Jesus to be over all things to the church. You have also given us the authority to use the name of Jesus that is above every name. According to Matthew 4:24 they brought unto Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and HE HEALED THEM. Father we come boldly and confidently to you, making our request made known. Lord, we are thankful that you are the same, yesterday, today, and forevermore. By your stripes we are healed in the mighty name of Jesus and you are no respecter of persons, if you did it before you can do it again. We believe, and receive all the greatness you have for us. We thank you and give you all the glory, honor and praise. In Jesus precious name Amen.

  • Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved by faith, not as a result of works. It is the gift of God. Not as a result of works, that no man should boast.” What I struggle with is accepting the grace. I continue to try to earn my way into heaven. It is so hard to throw off the old self, the people-pleaser self. Every day I must trust in Jesus!

  • This chapters focus on our position in Chirst. We just need to rest on his perfect labor. Let him live his life trhough you. Experiment the power of his ressurrection.

  • built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. (Ephesians 2:20 NIV)

I love this text. It says Christ should be our chief cornerstone. A cornerstone must be perfectly aligned and centered in order for the rest of the work to come out correct. Jesus has to be that same way. If He is not perfectly centered and aligned in our lives then everything else will come out misaligned. Then we have to continue the work over and over again until he is the cornerstone so everything else will come out aligned, in order, and pleasing.

  • This rich inheritance we have received is based soley upon the MERCY and GRACEof God. It is because His LOVE for us is so great, that we were saved from self-destruction.

  • Ephesians has long been one of my favorite books of the Bible. I will at times pray the beautiful prayer in Chapter 3 over my children or friends; it is a powerful thing to pray God’s Word, and this prayer in the middle of chapter 3 seems to be perfect for renewing our faith during tough times. I have learned that God Blesses us with faith as a gift. I used to try to muster up enough faith on my own, and then was taught that I can ASK Him for more faith – and He is pleased to deliver!! Through chapters 1 and 2 of Ephesians, this verse in chapter 2 really jumped out at me: “10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (NLT) We are His MASTERPIECE – wow… Of all the artists I have ever heard or read of, the ones that produce a masterpiece spend an amazing amount of time and effort on that ONE work. Kind of takes my mind spinning to realize how MUCH our Lord had invested in us!! And HE never EVER creates garbage – someone “less” than His very best. Makes all those doubts and insecurities about myself much less powerful in my mind. I struggle with a VERY painful disability, have for 24 years now (I am 48). I cried out “why, Lord??” And “I can’t DO this anymore!!” More times than I can count. Then about 6 months ago, I found the key to enduring with peace: Jesus showed me that I can give all my willingness to suffer this FOR HIM, back to Him as my love offering. He has been faithful to bring me peace and joy in the midst of times when just walking is torturous…. And He uses me to encourage and comfort others (a bonus!!!). Now I read that I am a MASTERPIECE, not an error of our sinful times, not an example of faithlessness. He KNEW this would be my road, intended it, and through it all has drawn me so close to Himself. It’s been a beautiful vehicle to grow my faith and trust in Him – and I always have the inner joy of knowing that as I struggle and suffer, that He is right beside me, joyfully accepting this as my unique offering to Him. Thanks for allowing me a place to pour out my thoughts, SheReads, and blessing me with the thoughts and faith ideas of other women. You are all beautiful and I love you!! In Christ, Babs

Over the past 5 days, God has been reminding me of the way I used to be before I knew Him and the wonderful luxury I now have in Christ. Sometimes we as Christians forget who we used to be, and so we tend to look down on others who are still in that position. This should not be the case. Yes, Christ has saved us, but He also wants us to share Him with the world. We cannot do this by becoming judgmental, & we must be careful of this.
Your past is what makes you because it is a daily reminder of the necessity to be humble before God and toward others. Judging other people never happens because we see faults in another person. It happens when we forget that we have faults of our own.

  • I'm new to the shereadstruth program and love it. I have done some things i am not proud of and for a time I didn't think I was worthy to be forgiven. Through this program and other resources/support, I am finding that I am worthy and can be forgiven. I am so greatful for this program. Thank you all for your insights and comments

Two weeks ago I felt alone, I was surrounded by people but I felt alone, Satan was coming at me from all sides. My best friend moved to another country, my landlord turned nasty and tried to throw us out of our house and I felt alone.
I ran to God. I ran and I flung my arms around my Heavenly Father because I *know* He will protect me.
Tomorrow, I have a job interview, to maybe escape a poisonous job and should be getting a call about a house we put an offer on.
What did I do differently? I TRUSTED God to provide for me. I TRUSTED Him to be beside me during my trials and I KNEW that His Grace is sufficient for ALL my trials and weaknesses.

Please would you pray for me tomorrow, I'm scared but excited about these possible way arounds!

Here is a prayer of JUST bible verses you can pray for yourself and for your children- just change the name:
    PRAYER

    Colossians2:2,6,7:

Dear God, I PRAISE YOU THAT Amy is being encouraged in growing to know you better, and that she will have the rich experience of knowing you will real certainty and clear understanding. Reveal to her the mighty untapped treasures of knowledge and wisdom that lie hidden in You. May she trust you with each day’s problems and live in vital union with You. May her roots go down deep into You, Lord, and may she draw up nourishment from you. See that she goes on growing in You and that she becomes strong and vigorous in the truth that she has been taught. Let her life overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all that You have done. 1 Thessalonians 5.23:May the God of peace herself make Amy entirely pure and devoted to God; may her spirit, soul and body be kept strong and blameless until the day of your return. May your rich blessings be with her.

    2 Thessalonians 1.11-12:

I keep on praying that you will make Amy as well as she could wish to be!-rewarding her faith with your power. Then everyone will be praising the name of

    2 Thessalonians 3.3:

Thank you Lord that you are faithful and that you will make Amy strong and guard her from satanic attacks of any kind.

    1 Timothy 2.1:

I thank you for Amy and for ALL that you are going to do for her and in her.

I thank you that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and that though sometimes Amy may fall, [goof-up] she will not be caste down, for you will help her up again by your hand. [Ps 37.23]

Thank you that you are showing Amy where she should go and that you are pointing out to her the paths on which she should travel, and show her where she should be.

    Philemon v6:

I thank you Lord that I keep on seeing the love that Amy has for you and seeing that she puts her trust in you. I pray that as she shares her faith with others that it will come to grip their lives too, as they see the wealth of good things in Amy that come from You.

    Hebrews13v17

I pray for Amy the wisdom that comes from heaven, which is first of all pure and full of quiet gentleness, peace loving and courteous. The kind of wisdom that allows discussion, and is willing to yield to others, full of mercy and good deeds, whole-hearted, straight-forward and sincere.

James 1.5-6:I pray that as she asks you for wisdom Lord that she will ask with a mind that expects an answer, for your word says that you are ready with a bountiful supply of wisdom for those who ask for it. May she ask in faith, so that you can give her a solid answer.

    Ephesians 1.15.20:

I never stop thanking you for Amy Lord and I pray to you constantly asking that you give her wisdom and for her to see clearly and to really understand who Christ is, and what you have done for us. I pray that her heart will be flooded with light so that she can see something of the future that we have been called to share. I want her to realize that God has been made rich because we who are Christ’s have been given to her. I pray that she will understand how incredibly great is your power to help those who believe in you. It is the same mighty power that raised you from the dead! And, we are joined with you and with each other by the Spirit. And we are a part of the dwelling place of God! At last we shall be truly filled up with God Herself. We will become full-grown in the Lord – yes – to the point of being full with Christ [.Ephesians4.13]

I am sure Lord, that You who began the good work in Amy will be faithful to complete it, and that you will keep on helping her to grow in grace until; your task in her is finally complete. My prayer is that she will overflow more and more with love for others, and at the same time will keep on growing in spiritual knowledge and insight.

Colossians1.9-12:I ask You to fill her with understanding of what you want her to do. May she be filled with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. May she walk in a ,manner worthy of You, Lord, living a blameless life. May she the way she lives always please and honour You. May she always be doing good kind things for others while at the same time getting to know You better and better. May she please You in all respects . May she bear fruit in every good work. May she be strengthened with power according to your glorious might. May she be filled with glorious strength so that she can keep on going no matter what happens – always full of the joy of the Lord. May her love for you run so deep that she can’t help but give glory and honour to you. May your mighty energy at work within her enable her to do the work that you have called her to do.

  • Satan seems to throw things in my way too. I'm trying to let go of my perfection on the Bible reading plan and remember the reason for the plan is to read the Bible everyday, not read three "days" a couple times a week.

  • God has been teaching me so much lately. I had previously let my relationship with Christ get pushed to the back burner by the busyness of life. I also had a situation that I allowed to make me angry at God. But I am SO thankful that He didn’t leave me to myself! He loves me enough that He pursued me. He has chosen me. He has forgiven me. He had adopted me. And I am learning to forgive myself for the way I handled the situation. I have been a Christian for 17 years, but I still turned my back on God because I’d gotten into the habit of doing things on my own, in my own power. As hard as this season has been, and still is, I am thankful for the many hard lessons I have learned. But most importantly I am thankful for the renewed relationship with my Savior. My best advice is to spend time in the Word and prayer…even if you don’t feel like it. Especially if you don’t feel like it. That is when you are closest to falling. But God will bless your faithfulness. Because we are His daughters!! And our Abba Father loves us!

Ephesians 2:4-5 "But because of this great LOVE for us, GOD, who is rich in mercy, made us ALIVE WITH CHRIST…"

This verse sticks out to me as a reminder of God's everlasting love for us, sinners. He loved us so much that he raised us with his Son so that we may live with him. He loves us in spite of ourselves.

  • Eph 1:4 is an amazing verse to think on. Just to think that before the world was ever created, Jesus chose me to be one of His children! Even while I was still in my sin, Jesus loved me, enough to die for me.
Eph 2:19-20-And I'm so thankful that through Christ, I am no longer a stranger and a foreigner, but a member of His household! Just thinking on these few chapters that we have read so far, my heart is so full of thankfulness and praise for my Savior!

Eph 1.4 is a hard concept for us to grasp: to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
We are so aware of our own faults- it is hard to grasp that God is looking for what is true and good and beautiful in us, like an indulgent parent, overlooking faults and short-comings.
There are verses that have become a part of a prayer I use over my children [ it is made up of only bible verses that are prayers] 16 I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, 17 asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom[f] and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.[g]

Thank you for sharing what you pray for you children. I am starting to become increasingly aware of how important it is to pray for our children. Especially because one of mine is starting to become severely hypochondriacal and anxious. I’m going to include this in what I pray for them.

I am just beginning this Ephesians study, so I don't know if you will ever see this comment, but I want to thank you for sharing this verses you pray over your children. I will use them to begin praying over my own children and grandchildren. Thank you so much for sharing them-I really, really appreciate it.
